O par de “Miss Saigon” está de volta. Passados exatos três anos, Nando Prado e a onipresente Kiara Sasso irão novamente atuar juntos em “Jekyll & Hyde – O Médico e o Monstro”, musical que abre temporada hoje no Teatro Bradesco, em São Paulo. A montagem, que transpõe para os palcos o clássico de Robert Louis Stevenson, repete a fórmula de superproduções da Broadway que aportam por aqui.
Como de costume, as cifras grandiosas são alçadas à categoria de protagonistas: custo de R$ 6 milhões, cerca de 200 profissionais envolvidos, 28 atores-cantores em cena e mais de 150 trocas de figurino. Também não faltarão os já tradicionais efeitos especiais, com direito a chuva, fogo e voo em cena.
Mas os maiores trunfos do espetáculo dirigido pelo norte-americano Fred Hanson, que também esteve à frente de “Miss Saigon”, parecem estar mesmo atrás do palco. A versão brasileira ficou a cargo de Claudio Botelho, a maior grife do País quando se fala em musicais. Os cenários exibem assinatura de J. C. Serroni e os figurinos foram encomendados ao estilista Fause Haten. Para criação das roupas de época, Haten conta que procurou evitar influências das montagens anteriores. “Parti apenas das referências do próprio texto. Tentei fazer um trabalho que não remeta a nenhuma das versões.”
No romance, Stevenson expõe as agruras de Henry Jekyll, um bondoso e equilibrado médico que tenta desenvolver uma fórmula para isolar o mal, mas acaba confrontado com seu alter ego, o inescrupuloso Edward Hyde. O cenário é a Inglaterra do fim do século 19, quando a Revolução Industrial em curso havia transformado radicalmente a sociedade e, sobretudo, a configuração das cidades. Com lances de suspense, a novela rapidamente caiu no gosto dos leitores. “É um thriller, coisa rara em musicais”, comenta Kiara Sasso.
Para aumentar ainda mais o apelo para o público, o diretor tratou de reforçar as tintas do triângulo amoroso da trama, em que o protagonista (Nando Prado) se vê dividido entre o amor pela noiva Emma (Kiara Sasso) e a atração pela prostituta Lucy (Kacau Gomes). “No espetáculo, tentamos refletir bem o sentido da época vitoriana, com muito romance, terror e mistério“, lembra Hanson.
