O governador José Serra anunciou nesta terça-feira (9) o projeto de construção de uma ponte de 80 metros de altura e cinco quilômetros de extensão entre Santos e Guarujá, no litoral paulista. A estrutura terá trecho de 1 km estaiado, justamente o que passa sobre o canal por onde trafegam os navios que atracam no Porto de Santos.
Estimadas em R$ 700 milhões, as obras terão duração prevista de 30 meses, após a assinatura do contrato. O projeto prevê duas faixas em ambos os sentidos, em um total de 4,8 km de novas pistas. Segundo o governador, não está prevista a cobrança de pedágio e o “Estado vai dar conta de todos os custos”.
Aliadas a empresas e sindicatos, as prefeituras do Guarujá e de Santos propuseram a construção ao governador. O assunto foi tema de uma última audiência pública realizada na noite de quinta-feira (4).
“Acreditamos que seja a última audiência antes do anúncio da obra pelo governo estadual”, disse na data o deputado estadual Paulo Alexandre Barbosa (PSDB), líder da frente criada na Assembleia Legislativa de São Paulo para estudar a criação da ponte.
De acordo com ele, o projeto tem como objetivo ligar a Avenida Mário Covas, do lado santista, à Avenida Santos Dumont, no Guarujá. A ponte, vetada para veículos pesados, substituirá a travessia por balsas e terá tráfego diário de 24 mil veículos leves e 15 mil bicicletas.
Barbosa disse que até a audiência não estava claro qual seria a participação financeira das prefeituras, do governo federal e da iniciativa privada na construção da ponte. “As prefeituras estudam o projeto”, afirmou.
