Uma equipe do Aesthetic Surgery Center, localizado na cidade de Naples, Flórida, alega ter conseguido bons resultados em 25 pacientes. Eles afirmam que a cirurgia pode ser realizada juntamente com uma plástica facial e ajuda a amenizar sinais de envelhecimento ao tornar os lábios mais carnudos e menos enrugados.
De acordo com o cirurgião plástico Anurag Agarwal, um dos responsáveis pela descoberta, a técnica do enxerto rejuvenesceu a aparência das pacientes em pelo menos dois anos. “Elas ficaram surpresas com a sensação e aparência natural, sem a necessidade de utilizar um implante ou uma substância preenchedora artificial’, diz.
Entretanto, os médicos são enfáticos ao afirmar que não existe procedimento perfeito. ‘Se a paciente não for se submeter a uma plástica facial simultaneamente, então ela deve ser avisada que ficará com uma cicatriz atrás da linha dos cabelos por conta da cirurgia’, alerta Douglas McGeorge, cirurgião e ex-presidente da Associação Britânica de Cirurgiões Plásticos Estéticos.
